No. The index and previews stay on your Mac. Lupe only contacts Lemon Squeezy briefly when you activate (and about once a week after that) to check your license key.
Yes – anything that shows up as a drive in Finder (SMB, AFP, NFS). Lupe detects it when you connect, indexes it and remembers it, so you can find files even while the drive is disconnected.
